The Back Story
The American Lake Improvement Club was formed in 1964 as a non-profit. It is open to all Lakeshore Residents. They have met annually for 62 years. It is governed by a Board of trustees who are all residents. ALIC has covered such issues as fishing, buoys, noise ordinances, Shoreline Management Act enforcement, water levels, toxic algae blooms, water skiing and a park consessionaire that was rude to County law enforcement officers! With the formation of a Lake Management District that acts as an advisory board to the City of Lakewood, the club has taken a more active role in addressing lake ecological health.
Dues
Dues pays for buoy replacement, annual invitation mailings, website retention and meeting space. ALIC is completely run by volunteer shoreline residents. Members have been paying $25 per year for decades. At the May meeting they will be voting on increasing it to $40. Pay before May 19,2026 at the early rate. It may be changing after the meeting.
